This is continuity for regulated
animal and food products

Veterinary declarations apply to consignments that fall under official animal health and food safety controls when entering the EU. We coordinate the required declarations and inspection steps with the NVWA and support the customs flow so goods can be released in a controlled and compliant way.

When veterinary controls
determine release

For many animal-related and food-related goods, customs clearance is not the only condition for release. Consignments may be subject to veterinary checks at an approved border control post, including documentary review and, where required, identity or physical inspection.

In the Netherlands, consignments subject to veterinary control must be notified in advance to the NVWA. The required Common Health Entry Document (CHED) is submitted and registered in TRACES. This is the European Commission’s online system used to process and monitor veterinary entry documents before goods are released.

If documentation, timing or inspection planning is not aligned with the logistics flow, shipments can be held. For perishable or time-sensitive goods, this has direct consequences for continuity and cost.

Documentation, timing and inspection must align

Veterinary compliance
as a controlled workflow

Veterinary declarations form part of the official control system that regulates the entry of animals, animal-related products and food-related products into the EU. Release depends on complete and accurate documentation, timely submission of entry information and proper coordination with inspection authorities at the relevant border control post.

Veterinary certificates and related entry documents are processed through the EU’s TRACES platform, enabling authorities and operators to register and verify the required information prior to release.

We approach veterinary declarations as a workflow that must be aligned with customs and logistics. This includes preparing the correct submission , ensuring supporting documents match the consignment and coordinating the inspection step so clearance and release can proceed without avoidable interruption.
